Quito Experiences

While in Quito you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of cultural or ministry experiences throughout the city. Once in Quito, you will sign up for one of these each day. Here are some options:

  1. Quito Church Ministry We will serve several churches throughout Quito. Participate in hand-son ministry by helping out in VBS, community outreaches, work-projects (Painting, mixing cement, transporting bricks — bring some work clothes), and even teaching English. This will be a great partnership opportunity for Latinos and Americans. What a way to bless Quito through acts of service!
  2. Garbage Dump Ministry The garbage dump has been home to some of the poorest families in Ecuador, who live on what they find in the trash. Several ministries have worked together to establish an effective outreach to these families. Help minister in a daycare center that provides a safe and clean environment for children while their parents work at the dump.
  3. Orphanage Ministry These children come from high-risk situations, destined to work the street for survival, with little hope of breaking the cycle. You can minister to them by helping at meal times and playing with them.
  4. Middle of the World Cultural Experience Come see the monument in the middle of the planet, with a sign that announces 0° latitude. Participate in unique experiences that can only happen in the middle of the world.
  5. Teleferico Prayer Journey Travel in a gondola 13,000 feet to the summit of Cruz Loma to take in a spectacular view of Quito and its surroundings, including more than 14 peaks of the Andes called the Volcanoes Avenue. While on the mountaintop we will have a time of worship, praising God in the fullness of His creation and interceding for the lost people in the sprawling city below.
  6. Panecillo, A Cultural Experience From the old city, you will have splendid views of Quito. Enjoy the history and culture of Quito, shop in the marketplace, and dine on authentic Ecuadorian food.
  7. Mountain Team-Building Experience Build deeper relationships through nature and outdoor adventure. We will travel north of Quito to a camp featuring find a rope course, team-building exercises, horseback riding, and miles of hiking trails.
